Is there a longing to return to the language of 'our Phoenician ancestors'?

A Phoenician cultural revival is growing in Lebanon through music and education. Prof. Roland Tomb leads this movement by teaching Phoenician at USJ and UPT. He aims to reconnect Lebanese people with their ancient heritage and language. Despite widespread Phoenician symbols, public knowledge remains limited. New initiatives like the Phoenician Studies Chair seek to reclaim this legacy.

2024

Iron Supplementation and Telogen Effluvium. Indian J Dermatol. 2024 Mar-Apr.

Prof. Roland Tomb co-authored a 2024 study on telogen effluvium in the *Indian Journal of Dermatology*. He is affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at Saint Joseph University and Hôtel-Dieu de France Hospital, Beirut. The study examined iron supplementation’s effects on patient satisfaction in women with telogen effluvium. Results showed benefits even in patients without low ferritin levels. Tomb’s contribution supports integrating iron therapy in managing hair loss.

2023

Prevalence of adverse events varies with the different oral isotretinoin brands in acne treatment: a retrospective observational study.

Dr. Roland Tomb co-authored a 2023 study in *Archives of Dermatological Research* on oral isotretinoin brands. The study found that adverse event rates in acne treatment vary by brand. Roaccutane® was linked to more cases of hypercholesterolemia and eczema. Acnotren® was associated with abnormal liver function tests. Findings highlight the importance of brand choice in minimizing side effects.

Creation of the Ethics Space at Saint Joseph University

In 2012, Prof. Tomb inaugurated the Ethics Space at Saint Joseph University’s Faculty of Medicine. This initiative was in collaboration with the Ethics Committees of Hôtel-Dieu de France and the University, advancing bioethics education in Lebanon.
